BULK MATERIAL SAMPLING INSTRUCTIONS

Sampling Procedures:

1. If the material is fibrous (i.e. duct or attic insulation), spray with water before handling.  A disposable mask may also be advised to prevent breathing in the material.
2. Carefully place 1 to 10 g of the material to be analyzed in a sample container such as a resealable plastic baggie.   Sample should be the size of your palm or smaller, but must be representative of the parent material.
3. Make sure that samples are secured in their sample container so that they will not open in transit. 
4. Label each sample with a unique identifier.
5. Ship the samples in a rigid container with sufficient packing material to prevent damage or sample loss; or drop the samples off at our laboratory between the hours of 8am-5pm Monday-Friday.
